日本最南端の森林公園であるバンナ公園は、石垣市街地の北方にそびえる標高230mのバンナ岳周辺の広大な自然環境下にあります。山の地形を生かした広場、散策路には亜熱帯性気候風土を感じさせる多くの珍しい植物が観察できます。また鳥類の保護・繁殖など、多くの市民が自然科学に興味を持ち、自然を楽しめる場を提供しています。園内は5つのゾーンに分かれ、石碑の森があるバンナ森といこいの広場ゾーン、展望台がいくつも楽しめるバンナスカイラインゾーン、熱帯植物園がある森林散策広場ゾーン、アーチ橋の野鳥観察広場ゾーン、子供広場で人々が賑わうふれあい子供広場ゾーンで構成されています。
