Illustmaker v3.0 major update — MCP expanded to 75 methods, print-ready PDF, library, BYOK image generation, live trace
ASI Inc. (HQ: Setagaya, Tokyo; CEO: Yusuke Saiki) has shipped a major update to Illustmaker, its AI-first vector graphics editor. MCP methods grew from 38 to 75. The release adds pro editing features (pathfinder, blend, symbols, clipping masks), print-ready PDF with trim marks and bleed, template & parts library for business cards / flyers / logos, BYOK image generation, an AI Vision critique loop, and raster-to-vector live trace.
What v3.0 adds
1. Pro editing features (Phase 1)
Eleven new MCP tools cover capabilities that previously weren't reachable via the API.
illust_clip_mask/illust_release_clip— Clipping masks. rect / ellipse / path shapes can all be used as masks.illust_opacity_mask/illust_release_opacity_mask— Opacity masks (with gradient transparency).illust_text_on_path/illust_release_text_on_path— Text on a path.illust_pathfinder— Boolean ops (union / intersect / subtract / exclude). High-precision marching squares on the server.illust_blend— Illustrator-style blend: N-step interpolation between two objects, including color.illust_save_symbol/illust_list_symbols/illust_create_symbol_instance— Symbol master / instance model.
2. Print prepress (Phase 2)
Beyond hobby use — you can now generate PDF directly submittable to commercial print shops.
illust_export_print_pdf— Auto-adds trim marks (4 corners + 4 center), bleed (3–20mm), and registration marks (4-color ready).illust_preflight_check— Pre-submit linter that reports missing bleed, un-outlined text, RGB→CMYK warnings as a structured report (0–10 score + issues + recommended fixes).
Designed for business-card sites, print shops, and flyer printers to embed Illustmaker in their own customer-facing services.
3. Parts & template library (Phase 7)
A model shift: AI agents no longer have to draw from scratch — they can pick high-quality parts and combine them. We ship 7 templates and 19 parts out of the box.

4. BYOK image generation (Phase 4)
Call OpenAI DALL-E / Recraft image generation directly from Illustmaker, embed the result into your session.
- BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) — your API key is used directly. Our servers never store the key. They act as a transparent proxy.
illust_generate_image— pass prompt + key + coordinates; the generated image is inserted as an image object.- Hybrid workflow: AI-generated backgrounds, vector text and logos on top.
5. AI Vision feedback loop (Phase 4.5)
AI agents can now "draw → self-evaluate → revise" in a loop.
illust_critique— render the current session as PNG, send it to Claude / GPT Vision, receive a structured critique.- Return shape:
{score: 0-10, summary, issues:[{area, problem, suggested_fix}], strengths:[]} - BYOK (uses your Anthropic / OpenAI key).
6. Live trace (Phase 6)
Convert raster images into vector paths.
illust_live_trace— Vectorize an image object via potrace into an SVG path.- Parameters: binarization threshold, denoise, optimization tolerance, fill color, whether to replace the original image.
- Use cases: turn hand-drawn sketches into logos; vectorize AI-generated rasters.
